North Korea continues to vehemently deny responsibility for the sinking of the South Korean warship Cheonan and hailed a U.N. resolution on the attack that noticably mentioned nothing about North Korean involvement as a "great diplomatic victory."
But the poster below, which was photographed in Pyongyan by a visiting Chinese businessman andpublished by Radio Free Asia sends kind of different message.
The caption reads: “If you come at us, (we will destroy you) with a single blow!”

북, 천안함 폭침 연상 포스터 제작

최근 북한을 다녀온 한 중국 사업가가 평양에서 가져온 포스터.
정영기자가 보도합니다.
천안함 폭침 사실에 대해 일체 부인하고 있는 북한이 내부적으로는 함선폭침을 가상한 선전을 하고 있어 주목됩니다.
얼마 전 사업차 북한을 방문했던 한 중국 사업가는 완전 무장한 북한 해병이 주먹으로 해군 함선을 두 동강내는 그림이 담긴 특이한 포스터, 즉 선전화를 발견했습니다.
이 사업가는 자유아시아방송에 이 포스터를 찍은 사진을 전하면서 “북한 사람들은 자신들의 군사력에 대해 상당한 자부심을 갖고 있는 분위기였다”면서 자기가 만난 무역 간부들은 “유엔에서 아무리 제재를 해도 우리(북한)는 끄떡없다는 반응을 보였다”고 전했습니다.
이 사업가는 “북한의 간부들이 천안함 사건의 범인으로 북한을 지목하고 있는 남한의 이명박 정부에 대해 모략이라고 말하는 모습을 여러 차례 볼 수 있었다”면서 “자기들이 하지 않았다고 하면서도 이처럼 함선을 두 동강 내는 상반된 선전을 하는 것은 이해할 수 없는 일”이라고 말했습니다.
익명을 요구한 남한의 한 군사 전문가는 “포스터에 나온 두 동강 난 함선은 배 앞머리에 포가 두문이 있고, 배 뒷부분에 두문이 있는 것으로 봐서 구축함이나 호위함이 아니라 이번에 침몰된 천안함과 같은 초계함을 형상한 게 분명하다”면서 “북한이 천안함 폭침 사건을 두고 군인들에게 신심을 주기 위해 이런 선전화를 제작한 것 같다”고 설명했습니다.
북한은 천안함 사건이 발생한 이후 이 선전 포스터를 제작하고 내부적으로 군인들에게 적극 선전해 그들의 영웅심리를 적극 부추기는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
북한과 연락하고 있는 탈북자 김민철(가명)씨는 북한 서해함대 사정에 밝은 소식통의 말을 인용해 “요즘 서해안 해군부대들에서는 '혁명의 수뇌부를 보위하는 바다의 결사대가 되자'라는 구호가 보편화 되었다”면서 “군인들 속에서는 최고 사령관의 명령이 내리면 적들의 항공모함이라도 까부술 수 있는 만반의 전투준비가 되었다는 의욕이 팽배해 있다”고 전했습니다.
그러면서도 김 씨는 북한군내에서는 천안함 폭침을 자축하는 듯 한 선전과 강연을 매일 같이 벌이고 있다고 전했습니다.
한편, 북한 주민들은 천안함 사건에 대해 아직도 의문이 풀리지 않은 상태라고 북한의 가족들과 연락하고 있는 다른 탈북자가 말했습니다.
함경북도 지방의 가족들과 연락하고 있는 이 탈북자는 “천안함 사건이 발생한 다음 북한군 내부에서는 '우리 영웅적 해군이 한방 때렸다'는 소문이 굉장히 났는데, 이제 와서 '남조선의 조작'이라고 하니 군대도 믿지 못하는 상황”이라고 말했습니다.
하지만 북한은 대외적으로 유엔안보리 의장성명이 발표된 이후에도 여전히 천안함 폭침 사실에 대해 적극 부인하는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
13일 북한 조선중앙통신은 의장성명을 거론하며 “천안함 사건의 진상을 끝까지 파헤칠 것”이라고 주장했습니다.

North Korea Using Cheonan in Propaganda By Namgung Min [2010-07-14 14:17 ] 
A recent North Korean propaganda poster depicting a blue warship being smashed in two by a red fist has been released by Radio Free Asia (RFA).

The poster was provided by a Chinese trader who had just returned from a business trip to North Korea, according to RFA. Beneath the picture, it screams, “If you come at us, (we will destroy you) with a single blow!”
Releasing the image yesterday, RFA cited the trader as saying, “I have met several North Korean cadres who, when the Lee Myung Bak administration pointed to the North as the criminal, insisted it was a fabrication. However, while saying the Cheonan was not attacked by them, it is not logical for the authorities to advertise it with this poster depicting the back of a warship broken in two.”
The Chinese trader went on, “The North Korean people are in a mood whereby they have significant confidence in their military power.” The reaction of cadres, he said, is “no matter how harsh UN sanctions against us get, we are still fine.”
In the RFA report, a South Korean military expert explained, “Judging from the shape, it is clear that the warship on the poster is a patrol ship, the same kind of warship as the Cheonan, not a destroyer or a frigate,” and added, “The North Korean authorities seem to have produced the poster to maintain soldier confidence.”
However, a defector from North Hamkyung Province who also spoke to RFA said, “Even though a rumor that our heroic navy had dealt a blow (to the South) circulated within the Chosun People’s Army immediately after the Cheonan incident happened, the authorities insisted it was a fabrication by South Chosun. Therefore, soldiers cannot trust them.”
In late April, a Daily NK source reported that the authorities advertized proudly after the incident that they had taken revenge on the enemy, and that South Korea was living in fear of the North’s military ability.
